BULLWINKLE BOUGHT IT

These pictures are not for the faint of heart. Ron shot an appromately 1000# moose. It was a long shot, a brown dot on a hill, he shot it in the shoulder, then second shot was a head shot. When on it's side it was at least 4 feet tall. He and mostly his friends field dressed it and it took four sleds to carry it back. They gave us way too much meat, a front leg, the back hind quarter and a back strap. It took Ron and another man to carry each piece in.

The hind quarter we guess was about 200#. What an amazing experience. The hunter gatherer came through. 30 salmon and now a moose. For Ron, a dream come true. I even helped cutting it up and wrapping it for the freezer. Thank goodness for the food sealer. That is the best gadget ever invented.

Here you go, the bounty.

This picture is my favorite. An attempt to put a leg into the freezer. It didn't fit. Imagine that.

Boats Before and After Blizzard

We had a huge blizzard here a few weeks ago. Ron and I took the high ground, it lasted 3 days. Winds 90 mph plus. The worst storm ever in this area. Of course I have no pictures. These were the only ones I could find as before and after. The boats were pulled out of the ice water in the morning by the folks that new a storm was coming. This are pictures of them pulling them back t the waters edge. Not exciting, but cool.
The post office is the blue building in the background. I am taking the pictures from the window in my kitchen at Head Start.

Walrus Anyone

I ate a bite of walrus. It was on the Thanksgiving buffet table. I had to at least try it. It was tough and fishy, I felt like I was on Fear Factor. It is a delicacy and I ate it. I am proud!

New Batch of Puppies

This owner is trying to find homes. Some dogs just get turned loose. Anybody want one?

Magical Moon

Mystical Magical Moon. Early morning beautiful. It was windy and cold. I had to learn against the house to steady myself. And my finger tips were burning and frozen. Ouch

Happy or Holy?

I think I should contact the news, tell them I found a holy person in a roll. Ahhh, Now I know, it is a Holy Roll, er, what say you? Which network should I send it to, or should I just send it to David Letterman. Oh wait... I cant, we ate it.

Games

This is the ruler pull. All the way from pre school to older adults.

Turkey Anyone?

I was preparing 4 turkeys for the Christmas for the Village festival. I almost died when I saw this price tag. This is more than expensive, it is shocking, even for Alaska. If there were any vegetables up here, I would consider going vegetarian. Actually, they are expensive too. I weighed a sweet potato at the store and it was 5.00. It is cheaper to have someone buy them in the 48 and flat rate box mail them to me.

Sharing a tid bit of my Lunch Lady day. Such a creative dish, don't you think?

I went to orange training class to learn how to do this. Impressive huh?

House with Personality

AHHHH God's beauty

Rainbow mist.

I took this one as soon as I left the house to be sure I didn't miss it. So this includes some of the local buildings.

This has the RAINBOW and the RAIN in one picture. Pretty amazing.0033

It is about time that I get off my airplane and catch up! I have lots of new pictures and "stuff" to share.

Tuesday's Walk Home

Out of nowhere, these folks sailed right here to Teller. Several villagers came to see. One told me that there are two men aboard the sailboat, one from Russia and one from Poland. They came to shore on their dingy, went to the school visited. Then they talked to a local here and he was taking them to his camp. The weather turned and they couldn't make the trip. I am excited to go out tomorrow, Wednesday, and hope there is another drop dead beautiful sunrise AND their sailboat is still here.
My walk home...

Tuesday's Walk to Work

Another detour to work on Tuesday's walk to work
It has been along time since there has been two nice days in a row.

Can you believe this?

These are the real colors. I did not enhance anything.

Have you ever seen anything like this?

Incredible isn't it. Breathtaking.

Monday's Walk to Work 9-12-11

Monday's walk to work. I had to take the long way to work to feel this sunrise. Of course, I ALWAYS have my camera with me and I can keep that experience forever.

Ride to the Spit 9-11-11

A nice Sunday. Winter is coming, we have to take advantage of the sun when it shines. On this sad day 9-11, we decided to take the four wheeler and I took my first four wheeler ride. I was very hesitant to get on the back of one. But I put on my big girl panties and JUST DID IT. It is all decked out leading with a reindeer skull. I forgot my leather jacket, darn it anyway.

We rode out to the spit. My oh my. It was really pretty AND we found starfish on the rocky shore. And across the ocean there were hundreds of birds, seagulls, feeding on something. Some kind of little fish. My camera has a killer zoom and I got some great pictures of the birds diving and eating.

And in the rocks were starfish. I have never seen them in real life before. We collected a bunch of them. Ron put laid them out to dry. Then I am going to send them to my Grandkids so they can break them. lol I joke. That is how people here way "just teasing".
